Any way you slice it, we're always thinking about food.

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/3 cup molasses
pinch of salt and pepper
1 tablespoon crushed garlic
a heavy pinch of dried basil
Mix all ingredients in a bowl, along with the chicken, of course, and let marinate for 30 minutes. Place chicken in an even layer in a baking dish and bake at 375 for 25 minutes.
Tapioca is from the root of the cassava plant.

Andy,
You are off to a grand start. You can do it!
Some thoughts: No vegan I know would be caught dead at Wal Mart (or at least admitting that they go there) or, for that matter, eating Pop Tarts but I will let that slide…
As the resident “freak” in the office, i.e. vegetarian:
For natural and cruelty free deodorant I recommend Tom's of Maine. They also have toothpaste.
As you plan your menu for the week you should try some sort of fake meat product (veggie burgers, etc.) but lots of those are vegetarian not vegan so make sure to read the label. Buy tofu and make a stir fry with lots of veggies and soy sauce. I promise you it will be edible. Mostly the fake meat can help to supplement protein and also serves the purpose of being amusing to think of you eating fake meat.
Watch out when you buy vitamins because they can include animal products, too. Also watch out if you come across hard candy, Skittles, etc. Many of those products can also contain animal remnants.
You can find cereal without animal ingredients. Then get soy milk, pour it all over the cereal and you’ve got a breakfast entrĂ©e.
Good luck and at least you don’t have to deal with the whole cosmetics issue like Angela does.
