4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/3 cup molasses
pinch of salt and pepper
1 tablespoon crushed garlic
a heavy pinch of dried basil
Mix all ingredients in a bowl, along with the chicken, of course, and let marinate for 30 minutes. Place chicken in an even layer in a baking dish and bake at 375 for 25 minutes.
Tapioca is from the root of the cassava plant.

In case you missed it or don't read comments on the older entries:
Lactic acid - in the Smart Balance buttery spread is made from milk.
Lactic, lactate --milk
Which product had lactic acid? I am trying my best to keep up with the comments.
Okay I just saw your other comment about the spread. I have not eaten any of the spread anyway, but you make a good point.
Smart Balance also makes a 100% vegan "buttery spread" that is organic and it it delicious! It is the best vegan butter alternative I've ever had. I also like that it's clearly labled as being 100% vegan. It's definitely easier to shop vegan now than it was 20 years ago. BTW, great job---I've enjoyed viewing your vegan diaries and appreciate how much you've put into your research and how you respect veganism. It's too bad that some people shrug veganism off as a 'cult' or as strange. Kudos for presenting it respectfully. Best wishes!
