Lunch options from Oscar Mayer

It's no secret flatbreads have become the hot new lunch trend. (Well, it may be a secret here, but the fast-food chains have been slowing integrating flat breads into their menus in some parts of the country.)

Naturally, the food folks who make ready-made deli lunches want to capitalize on that trend. A recent survey found that nearly 40 percent of Americans say they eat lunch hunched over a keyboard, which is in stark contrast to the 11 percent who regularly venture out for their mid-day meal.

Helping to solve this lunchtime dilemma so Americans can make the most of their break at work, Oscar Mayer is introducing a hot and melty sandwich: Deli Creations Flatbread Sandwiches. They microwave in a minute, fulfilling a marketing goal many food manufacturers have tried (with varying success) over the years: More than 75 percent of Americans think enjoying a hot lunch is impossible due to lack of time, the inconvenience and cost. More than half (56 percent) of those surveyed think a hot and melty flatbread sandwich is the most appealing lunch option when compared to typical lunch fare like pre-packaged sandwiches, frozen meals and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. About 64 percent1 of those surveyed describe their typical lunch as “same old, same old.”

Hence, the new sandwiches – Buffalo-Style Ranch Chicken, Chicken & Bacon Ranch, Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken, Fajita Beef & Salsa and Steakhouse Beef with Garlic Parmesan sauce. Available nationwide in May 2008, Oscar Mayer Deli Creations Flatbread Sandwiches can be found in the refrigerated meat case section and have a suggested retail price of $2.99.

Oscar Mayer Deli Creations Flatbread Sandwiches are a new addition to the product line which also includes Oscar Mayer Deli Creations Sub Sandwiches, available in five delicious varieties – Turkey & Cheddar Dijon, Oven Roasted Ham & Cheddar, Honey Ham & Swiss, Steakhouse Cheddar and Turkey Monterey.
